Week 4

Mr. & Mrs. Luke & Keri Andrews

So... it is actually week 5, but we'll go back in time...

Beau is still eating every 3 hours... almost like clock-work, he could BE my little clock, actually. It shocks me how he is only about 1 or 2 minutes off each feeding... maybe he will be a very timely little person... we need that in our family of 4 where the parents are constantly late and his mommy's nickname in college was Timex (because I was always a bit time challenged...)

We also did something that still surprises me... just me and the kids decided to ride along with Adam & Dayna up to Lake George, Indiana for my cousin Luke's wedding this past Thursday - Saturday. It was so neat to be able to stay with my cousin's at such a beautiful lake cottage (thank you Dan & Maizie) but unfortunately the weather was crappy, and I was stuck in a room nursing the little guy most of the time. Poor Tate, without a Mommy most of the time, but she was luckily quite entertained by her "cousins" and I luckily and thankfully had a bunch of helping hands around as well to keep track of little Miss Busy-body while I was detained. The 4 hour car ride there and back was a bit overwhelming for me to imagine, but both kids did AMAZINGLY well there and back. Beau slept the whole way there and back, and Tate did a bit of the way there as well. On the way home, though, she rode with Meemaw & Peepaw as she was having a bit of tummy trouble and needed some special attention (aka spoiling time) from the grandparents. Thank goodness for them. I can't even begin to describe the relief I felt when we showed up for the wedding that they were there!!! Dayna & Adam were HUMONGOUS helpers, and I am truly thankful for all that they did, but there is nothing like the grandparents... Even though the weather was yuck and cold, it did not stop the kids from getting in the lake! And of course, my little fish was right there in the middle... purple lips and all, swimming away and having a blast :) We had a great time visiting with everyone, yummy food, funny, late night comedy shows - Jim Gaffigan is hilarious, and an overall wonderful time catching up with some people that I love dearly. It was a beautiful wedding with a beautiful bride and handsome groom. I was and am so thankful that I was able to be there!

As of now, we are still recovering from the long car rides and busy weekend, but we are slowly getting back to normal. Luckily, Tate has been nice to mommy this week and has been taking naps, so I have joined in on this with her and Beau... I almost have to force myself to do this, which frustrates the heck out of me as I am so tired, but my brain is telling me constantly of many, many other things that would be way more productive that need to be done... but my body seems to win out lately and nap it is!

OH... Beau also had a checkup this past Monday and all is well! He is a healthy little guy, and has already put on over 2 lbs... wow! 10 lbs. 4 oz. and he has grown another inch in length. Shocked the heck out of Anthony & I! Guess this nursing thing is going better than I expected... thank goodness.

Big sister Tate is proving to be SUCH a big helper. She likes to hold him a few times during the day in the boppy and will do so for random amounts of time... sometimes for 5 minutes or so, and then sometimes for about 5 seconds and "Okay, take him back". She also is enjoying changing his diaper and helps me by taking off the "straps". So far, she hasn't been peed on. Beau also gets to take his baths with his sister. We put the bath cushion in the tub and put a bit of water in there, and she uses her little toy teapot to help rinse his hair after we wash it. He seems to enjoy looking at her during this time and she enjoys the company. I enjoy two, clean, yummy smelling kids! We won't talk about if and when Mommy gets her showers lately... just look at the cute kids :)

Other than that, we are just enjoying being together, the 4 of us... it's still so wild to think we are a family of 4 now... it almost seems like he's just always been there, too...

i am so glad to hear nursing is going well. we are just about done weaning. i dropped from 3 feedings to 2 over the weekend, and my supply has really gone downhill. she is 11 1/2 months so i am definitely okay with that and ready. i pumped a TON of extra milk up until she was 9 months old. so i have so much in our deep freeze that it could last her forever. i hope everything continues to go well. that beau is a doll, and so is tate! take care, annie!
