Well... as of today, the little guy is 3 weeks old. How the heck did THAT happen!?!? Has it seriously been 3 weeks since he made his arrival into this world and into our arms??? Have I been awake for 3 weeks straight now... sure feels like it at times... but we won't talk about that in this post...
Beau is such a sweet little boy. We can't imagine life without him and are so thankful for this little angel that has joined our family. Tate is completely head over heels in love with him... she never wants to leave his side. She has been such a big helper and has really stepped up. She is the best diaper, wipes, burp rag getter/paci finder/calmer downer/etc. ever. What a wonderful big sister Beau has. She has told us on numerous occasions that she does not ever want him to go back to the hospital... her way of saying she never wants him to go back in Mommy's belly. We think he is already pretty fond of her, too, as he seems to know her voice and calms down pretty quickly when she starts talking to him. It's too cute... when he is crying, the little mommy likes to go and rub his head and say "I know, Beau... I know!!!" and "Oh myyyy!! Oh myyy!!!" Too cute! We need to catch this on video.
Beau is really starting to "wake up" a bit more every day. I stopped taking the pain meds less than a week after being home so he and mommy are "fully alert". Ha! Maybe just he is... He really enjoys being cuddled and held (oh no) and loves to lay on our bed and stare at the fan... he is extremely intrigued... must be a blurry view, but somehow, pretty exciting to him. He still sleeps more than anything and wakes up to eat every 2 and a half, to 3 hours. And I'm still nursing and going strong! I'm so proud of this accomplishment, I've already beaten my record with Tate by a week!!! I think she prepped me well...
We have also been doing and going a lot lately! He made his first visit to church at a week and a half old.... and did wonderful. He slept through almost all of it, but woke up halfway through to eat, and then back to sleep! I've since been told which is the nursing room at church and which room is not the nursing room... Ooops! We also have made many trips to the lake... and it's getting easier each time. It's so nice to be able to go down there and Tate can swim and be happy and Beau and I just sit in the shade and watch the little mermaid be content. Thank goodness for Aunt Dayna, though... she's been such a blessing!!! Since mommy can't swim for a while, Dayna is lifeguard and swim buddy... thanks for getting in with her :)
Tate has gotten to do a lot of fun things since Beau has been born --- mostly to keep her happy and busy, but also because she is becoming such a big girl! She has now been to 2 more movies this summer, her first was Horton last summer with Aunt Dayna and I. Meemaw and I took her to see UP the day before Beau was born... and she loved that... the magical movie screen :) And then this past weekend, she went on a date with Daddy to see Monsters vs. Aliens... her favorite part of these excursions... the popcorn and coke! She also has been tubing!!! I can't believe I missed this "first" but am holding out to see it for myself... we still have a lot left of the summer. She has had tons of play dates as well, and thank you to my cousins for helping me out on this, it's so much easier when there are other little kids around to keep her happy and playing. Sometimes she gets bored with her mommy! She also is doing VBS this week at Nineveh... this is wearing that chic OUT at night... she can hardly keep her eyes open for more than 3 minutes on the way home... and then lights out!

annie, he is a doll! oh, i love newborns! and good for you for nursing! i nursed jackson for 7 months. i had some crazy things happen (mastitis, thrush, a nipple fall of...you hear me) and i had the stomach flu bad when he was 7 months and lost my supply over night. i am currently still nursing darbi. she will be 11 months on monday. we started weaning about a month ago. i had mastitis and thrush with her too. i had a supply issue when she was 7 1/2 months from training for the mini-marathon too much. but, i got it back with lots of work. if you ever need any advice, please let me know! facebook me and i can call you. or you can call me. the best thing about having a second child is watching them grow to love and care for one another. jackson and darbi LOVE to play together. they giggle and it takes my breath away! take care and enjoy every moment. i'm freaking out that my baby is going to be 1 in about 5 weeks. it just goes by too fast!
He is so adorable! Sounds like Tate is being a great big sis! Keep up the posting...looking forward to weekly posts! I hope you are doing okay! Keep up the nursing...it gets easier every day!
I love it! Mainly because the fact that 3 weeks in both kids are entertained long enough for you to post something longer than 3 lines is SO encouraging to me!!! :) You have GORGEOUS kids and I seriously want to hold that baby boy. I just love him already!!! Soon and very soon we WILL get together. Even if we just nurse our babies while the big kids play -- Cash would LOVE Tate, I'm sure. :)
I'm dying to meet your little man - can you meet for coffee next week?
XOXO,
Jo Jo
